Save The Date for Avon Park’s 1st Annual Bread Festival, celebrating in 2024 the 75th Anniversary of the discovery of Brown & Serve Rolls.

In 1949 in Avon Park, Florida, Joseph A. Gregor was working as a a volunteer fireman with the Avon Park Fire Department when his baking process was interrupted by the fire siren causing him to go to the fire and turning off his oven of partially cooked rolls. When returning after fighting the fire, Joe found the rolls had held their form just as he’d left them. He decided to bake them, the rolls taking just 7 minutes to brown. And “The rest is history”..as we would say!

At the festival, enjoy vendors, music, demonstrations and baking contests. More information to come!
