2025 Last Paddler Standing Brings SUP Endurance Racing to Highlands County’s Lake June

International paddleboard race relocates to Lake Placid’s HL Bishop Park this holiday season, offering residents an opportunity to learn more about the growing and popular sport.

Lake Placid, Florida (Nov. 25, 2025) – From Dec. 6-8, an international paddleboard endurance race will take place on Lake June and hub from Lake Placid, Florida’s HL Bishop Park. The 2025 Last Paddler Standing will kick off on Saturday, December 6 with more than 30 stand-up paddle board (SUP) athletes competing day and night to be this year’s last paddler standing. The athletes will come from all over the globe including the U.S., Sweden, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany and Costa Rica. This family-friendly event will offer attendees the chance to meet with world-renowned paddlers, gain insights into the growingly popular sport, and participate in various onsite activities.

“We’re thrilled to bring the 4th year of Last Paddler Standing to the beautiful Lake June/HL Bishop Park venue and the charming town of Lake Placid,” said Visit Sebring/Highlands County Tourism Director Casey Hartt. “These events underscore our commitment to making Highlands County a premier endurance racing destination on both land and on the water, while leveraging our top facilities and strong community interest to attract world-class and international sporting competitions.”

Last Paddler Standing is an endurance SUP race focused on stamina and strategy. Ranked #1 in U.S. SUP races last year, attendees and livestream viewers will see racers paddle a 3.33-mile loop course, starting and finishing the loop within a one-hour period, repeating it until the length of the loop increases up to 4.9 miles for paddlers still standing two days later. The event will wrap on Monday, December 8, declaring the 2025 Last Paddler Standing winner.

“Last Paddler Standing is unique for many reasons as its format offers athletes of all ages and abilities a chance to compete on an even playing field,” said Greg Wingo, event founder. “Unlike other races, where strength and speed often take center stage, this event prioritizes endurance and stamina, fostering fair competition for all men and women. It’s an incredibly tough challenge, creating amazing storylines throughout the intense multi-day event.”

The festivities will kick off on Friday, December 5 with a “Welcome Party” for the SUP athletes from 8-9 p.m. at Wet Dogs Brewing where the public is invited to attend. The event will be livestreamed to an international audience of SUP enthusiasts.
