Avon Park Bread Festival

October 12

10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Overview

Mark your calendars for Avon Park’s 1st Annual Bread Festival, where we’ll toast to the 75th Anniversary of the legendary Brown & Serve Rolls in their birthplace!
In 1949 in Avon Park, Florida, Joseph A. Gregor was working as a a volunteer fireman with the Avon Park Fire Department when his baking process was interrupted by the fire siren. He quickly turned the oven off with his partially baked rolls inside, and dashed off to fight the flames. When he returned, lo and behold, those rolls were still standing tall, just as he’d left them! So, Joseph took a chance, baked them for a quick 7 minutes, and voilà, perfectly browned dinner rolls! And “The rest is history”..as we would say!
Join us at the festival for a delicious day filled with vendors, toe-tapping music, eye-popping demos, fun exhibits, a kids’ zone, and epic baking contests!
