If you love to fish, then you should really check out Windy Point Park in Lake Placid.
At the southern end of Lake Istokpoga, this is a popular spot for fishing tournaments. Windy Point has a large parking lot with covered pavilions and picnic tables on one end and the boat ramp at the other.
It is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, as it has a winding nature trail with paved pathways that are good for an enjoyable walk and bird watching. There is also a boardwalk leading to a large deck overlooking a small pond, which is a great spot for fishing and watching for turtles, frogs, birds and other wildlife.
As always, make sure you bring your sunscreen and plenty of water along with your fishing gear if you plan to visit. Restrooms are on site.
Lake Istokpoga
Nearly 28,000 acres, Lake Istokpoga is one of the best fishing lakes and the fifth largest lake in the state of Florida. Trailer parking outnumbers car parking, which about 80 trailer spaces. Windy Point Park hosts fishing events throughout the year. This is a pretty park, and we strolled the nature trail around a small lake, where a man and his children were fishing from the deck. The trail is not long, and it’s an easy, flat paved path.
