Buck Island Ranch Swamp Buggy Tour

Overview

Climb aboard a swamp buggy for a one-of-a-kind journey across Archbold Biological Station’s Buck Island Ranch, a 10,500-acre working cattle ranch where ranching, wildlife, and conservation thrive side by side. Along the way, you’ll explore the diverse landscapes of the Florida Heartland while learning how science, agriculture, and land stewardship work together to protect one of the state’s most remarkable ecosystems. Keep an eye out for native plants, birds, and wildlife as you experience this behind-the-scenes look at one of Florida’s premier research ranches.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to check in. Dress appropriately for the weather, as the tour is fully exposed to the sun. We recommend wearing a hat, sunscreen, and, if needed, a rain jacket. Any comfortable, closed- or open-toe shoes are suitable. There are no age restrictions; however, participants must be able to climb a small but steep set of steps to board the swamp buggy.
