Highlands County is taking a major step toward unifying and strengthening its visitor experience with the installation of three new interactive digital kiosks as each is designed not only to highlight its host city, but to connect tourists to all that Sebring, Avon Park, and Lake Placid have to offer.
Installed this week in Sebring’s Circle Park, in front of the Avon Park Chamber of Commerce (28 Main Street), and at Journal Plaza in Lake Placid (231 North Main Avenue), the kiosks serve as digital “connectors,” encouraging visitors to explore across city lines, stay longer, and spend more within Highlands County.
“By the TDC and the three cities working together and showcasing Highlands County as one cohesive destination, we’re making it easier for visitors to discover our area events, activities, restaurants, hotels, and attractions,” said Highlands County Tourism Director Casey Hartt. “These kiosks help strengthen tourism throughout all three cities by encouraging visitors to see and do more during their stay, which ultimately boosts economic activity countywide.”
Unveiled earlier this year during the TDC’s Destination Unity Breakfast, the kiosks mark a significant milestone in the county’s long-term strategy to enhance visitor engagement and promote collaboration among the county’s three municipalities. Over the past year, Visit Sebring and the cities have worked together to build a platform that highlights each community’s unique offerings while showcasing how seamlessly they connect.
Each kiosk features touchscreen navigation that allows visitors to browse local dining, accommodations, outdoor adventures, cultural attractions, and upcoming events. Although each kiosk spotlights its host city, the system is intentionally designed to encourage broader exploration across the county.
“Local businesses and organizations are featured in categories such as Food & Drink, Things to Do, Outdoors, and Accommodations so visitors can easily discover them,” Hartt said. “Users can also filter by preferences, such as cuisine, lodging style, or city, giving them a seamless way to explore and enjoy all three communities during their vacation to Highlands County.”
Manufactured by TrueOmni, an industry leader in interactive digital signage, the kiosks are built to withstand Florida’s climate and offer several visitor-friendly features, including:
- Itinerary Builder – Visitors can “heart” favorite spots and send a personalized itinerary to their phone.
- Interactive Event Calendar – Showcases festivals, markets, concerts, and community happenings across all three cities.
- Interactive Maps & Directions – Helps visitors navigate between attractions and easily explore beyond their starting point.
- Digital Photo Booth – Allows guests to snap and share branded Visit Sebring photos, promoting countywide visibility.
The digital kiosks support Visit Sebring’s mission to strengthen the tourism economy through technology, collaboration, and innovative destination development with the goal of showcasing Highlands County as a unified, experience-rich destination.
Tourism-related businesses, attractions, and event organizers wishing to appear on the kiosks should review their listings at VisitSebring.com and contact the TDC at info@visitsebring.com to create or update information.
